How Bidding Works

All auctions begin ending at 8:50PM EST on final auction days.

Auctions begin on the 2nd Thursday of each month except for July, November and December (these start on the 1st Thursday of the month). Each lot is set to end in 10-15 second increments depending on the size of the auctionCIA uses 10 minute extended bidding windows. If there are no more bids placed on a lot in the final 10 minutes, that lot will end. Any bid that is placed in the last 10 minutes on a lot will bump the bidding window back up to 10 minutes remaining until time runs out with no bid. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND to get your bids in early to help ensure you win them.

If you think you may not be available for extended bidding, or have multiple lots you have an interest in, it is excellent practice to get your “MAX BIDS” placed sooner rather than later.”

Proxy Bids. CIA uses proxy bidding which allows you to place your max bid limit, and CIA will automatically bid the next increment above the previous highest max bid. Example.. A lot is at $50, another bidder’s secret max bid is $100, and you enter a max bid of $150. CIA will proxy bid to the next increment above the current max bid which would be $110. If other bidders bid, they will be outbid by you to the next increment until reaching your $150 max bid amount.

Reserve Price. Any lot that has a reserve will say “Reserve not met.” Once it has been met it will say “reserve price met.” If you enter a max bid that is below the reserve amount, your max bid will be entered fully without using proxy bid since you would not win the item anyway as it’s under the reserve price. Once the lot reaches the reserve price, Proxy bidding will kick back into effect like normal as explained above.

Shipping

We make it a point to always offer fair shipping rates. All items are fully insured to your doorstep. Invoices $500+ come with signature required (you can request signature be added before paying your invoice if it totals less than $500 for $4 additional.

The base shipping rate is $5 + $1 per additional lot purchased for cards, and $7 + $2 for larger items such as graded comics. This rate is higher for more valuable, heavy, bulky items, or multi-item lots, but is very fair. Combined shipping can also be reduced further if the shipping rate above is too high based on the items you won.

Invoices. If you win items from 2 or more auctions that end within 72 hours apart, we recommend waiting until the last auction closes to pay. We do not at this time combine invoices from seperate auctions, but will combine the shipping rate if you wait until the auctions you are bidding in close.”

Testimonials

The team over at CIA is one of the best in the industry to work with. They are very knowledgeable and easy to work with. I have personally worked with Jeremy Donson on multiple deals. I would say that these are some of the best and easiest transactions I have completed. It’s not easy to find individuals in the card industry that are as professional as CIA.

Greg Morris Cards

I was lucky enough to meet Jeremy through a mutual friend. Every single deal we have done since has gone beyond my expectations. No two deals are the same and he makes every effort to ensure the deal is well researched and that I am happy with my end of it each and every single time. I can appreciate his bank of knowledge and experience in the hobby but it’s great to know he will also treat me like a human being and not just a number. Will continue doing business with Jeremy forever!

Mark’s Card Shop

I have known Jeremy for over 10 years and in that time I have bought and sold well over 6 figures worth of cards with him and been more than satisfied with his knowledge, support, and understanding. He has never pressured me or made me feel uncomfortable about any deal. He’s always been honest and upfront and even given me insight in the hobby, and I will continue to use him in all of my collecting needs.

Shane Peterson

I have had the pleasure of working with Mr. Donson several times over the years. He’s very quick to respond either by text, email, or phone call. He’s a valuable asset to the hobby, and I plan to continue working with him in the future. Somehow, someway, he always seems to find incredible items for his inventory! Topnotch hobbyist!

Jimi Thayer

Jeremy Donson is an asset to the hobby. He brings passion, knowledge, transparency and much needed integrity to a space riddled with questionable agendas. In my dealings with Jeremy over the years I’ve found him to be not only fair and equitable, but also available and approachable. He is generous with both his time and his deep hobby acumen.

Jeremy doesn’t hide behind a storefront, but rather develops relationships that last and drive value for all involved. He simply loves talking cards and making friends. His established network of collectors and dealers enables him to match cards to existing demand in real time. I consigned rare Tom Brady and Adrian Peterson cards with Jeremy which he sold above market because he knew collectors actively looking for those cards. The hobby needs more people like Jeremy that are focused on building the enthusiast community through access and integrity.

Jeremy Donson is passionate about, and cares about the future of our industry…A responsible participant, and a valuable member of the card collecting community and industry.

Every once in a while you meet a person that is special. You know it and you want to develop a deeper relationship with them. Jeremy Donson is such a person.
Jeremy does the right thing when no one is watching, which is the pure definition of integrity.
He is a Christian man and those qualities guide him in everything he does in his life whether it be business, teaching, or his personal life.
Once you meet him you’ll know he’s special.

Trust, fairness, and timeliness. Those are three important qualities you require and demand from any auction firm. Whether as a buyer or a seller, these are among the three prerequisites I look for. I’ve personally known Jeremy for several years and he naturally embodies these qualities.

Trust in deals is vital, particularly when large sums of money are concerned. Knowing who you are dealing with and the quality of the product that you are purchasing is everything. Jeremy has always stood by everything he has sold. Everything has been as described, if not better. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Jeremy and look forward to working with him going forward.

I can not recommend anyone more than Jeremy Donson for all your sports related needs. I have not only dealt with him for years, but consider him a close friend. He is absolutely one of the best in the business. You can trust him completely with all your auction needs.

Mark Freeman

Jeremy was great to work with. We did a big deal together and he was a man of his word throughout. If Jeremy said he was gonna do it, he did it. He even cut me a check for some extra stuff I had outside of our deal. I’ve been in the hobby since the 80s and have dealt with my share of scumbags. But not here. It was just a great experience with a good guy. Thanks and good luck with the new venture.
